Productivity is on the rise at the Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service, thanks to a $25,550 donation of Net services software from Novell, Inc.
Donna Santarsiero, Brooklyn Bureau Executive Director, said "We are deeply grateful to Novell for their very generous donation of software. The upgrades provided by Novell will benefit the entire staff in the Brooklyn Bureau's main offices as well as the hundreds of disabled men and women who use the Brooklyn Bureau's computer system every day as part of our vocational training programs, which lead to competitive employment."
Brooklyn Bureau Director of Information Services, Adil Elkari, said, "Novell's generous product donations are vital to the secure and efficient functioning of our computer network. Within days after we received the Novell upgrade to Groupwise 7.0, two hundred of our employees and consumers began to benefit from its improved features-integrated e-mail, instant messaging and scheduling, as well as task, contact and document management. The Border Manager upgrades furnished by Novell offer an improved safeguard from external threats, and improve our capacity to securely facilitate employees' remote access to our network."
Novell's software donations are part of its Community Relations program, which seeks to enable nonprofit organizations to develop and realize their visions through the power of technology. Novell's corporate giving program focuses on the areas of education, critical community needs and cultural development. Gifts In Kind International, the world's leading charity in product philanthropy, manages Novell's software donation program, coordinating distribution of Novell software to charities across the country.
"Novell's generosity sets an outstanding example for the software industry," said Susan Corrigan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Gifts In Kind International. "Novell's products enable charities to take advantage of all the benefits technology has to offer and allows them to do a more effective job of helping those who need it most."
"Novell takes an active role in the communities and organizations in which our employees live and work," said Hal Thayer, Vice President, Corporate Communications. "We applaud the Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service for their dedicated commitment to our community and hope our contribution will facilitate this important work."
