NEARLY A HUNDRED WALKED TO SUPPORT DISABLED ADULTS AT FUNWALK 2008 IN PROSPECT PARK

Event Raised More Than $7,000 for Recreational Programs for Disabled Adults

Dozens of enthusiastic clients, staff and friends of the Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service waving their Nike batons at the finish line at FUNWALK 2008 in Prospect Park.

The rain did not stop nearly a hundred walkers from supporting FUNWALK 2008 on Sunday, September 28 at Prospect Park. The event was presented by the Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service-one of Brooklyn's first and largest providers of social services to 13,000 disadvantaged children, families and adults with disabilities. FUNWALK 2008 raised more than $7,000 to enable more than 200 adults with developmental disabilities to participate in recreational programs. Proceeds will help the Brooklyn Bureau to continue a bowling league, art classes and weekend trips in the community for individuals with developmental disabilities. These activities help clients establish friendships, build skills and self-confidence, and participate more fully in community life.
